KS3&4 Maths

Whilst such qualifications are important we need to make sure students can apply these skills as widely as they are able, so some maths time might include; shopping, running a micro-business, working in a café or travelling by bus.

Martin License - Maths Co-ordinator

All students study maths at a level suitable to their ability. Currently we have pupils working from P level 3 to GCSE. Where appropriate students take a formal qualification in Key Stage 4, these include; Entry Level Number Suite, Entry Level Functional Skills, Level 1 Number and Maths GCSE .

Whilst such qualifications are important we need to make sure students can apply these skills as widely as they are able, so some maths time might include; shopping, running a micro-business, working in a café or travelling by bus. Many of these skills are taken from the PFA curriculum and can include activities such as taking money from a purse and saying “please and thank you”. Pupils progress is recorded on a school bespoke system and progress is monitored alongside their EHCP.

Pupils usually take three maths lessons per week; some students will do extra maths as identified in EHCP time. School offers 3 different maths interventions in KS3 which are delivered by suitably trained staff. We have 2 fully equipped maths rooms with access to a suite of PCs and a set of iPads.
