Key Stage 3 – Science is taught through the Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics outlined below on a 3 year rolling programme from Year 7 to Year 9.
The topics are chosen specifically to include common aspects from the Key Stage 2 Science Curriculum for learners who need to revisit and consolidate their knowledge and understanding of previous learning, as well as topics from the Key Stage 3 curriculum in order to widen the scientific knowledge and understanding of students progressing onto a science GCSE course in Year 10.
Key stage 4 – Once in Key Stage 4 there are several options available to students.
Some students will complete an AQA Entry Level (Single or Double Award) in Science. This combines practical skills and content knowledge and is assessed through practical experiments and coursework as well as externally set assessments.
Students may also work towards achieving AQA unit awards whilst following the above course. Other students will complete an AQA Science GCSE (Double award) over a 3 year period.
