Wellbeing is critical to cognitive development and the development and promotion of positive social, emotional and mental health.

Newman Wellbeing Team

Our Newman Wellbeing Team supports pupils, staff and parents.

At Newman School, wellbeing is explicit within all areas of the curriculum and are visible within the learning environment, enabling pupils to feel confident, express emotions, build good relationships, live productively, cope with stresses and develop resilience.

Specific assemblies,actions and approaches and lunchtime clubs, PfA modules address aspects of pupil wellbeing. Newman School has a dedicated SEMH ( Social, Emotional and Mental Health ) team to assess and monitor need, develop and deliver 1;1 or group actions and approaches to support a pupil’s wellbeing. A MIND counsellor and a qualified Youth mental Health First Aider is also available.
Our Wellbeing Working Party provides a forum for discussion and support for pupil wellbeing and reflection on the SEMH Policy. Parent wellbeing is supported holistically by our Wellbeing Team Lead and Family support.

Newman School has a team of trained Wellbeing Champions dedicated to providing 1:1 support and signposting to staff members .The Wellbeing Team Lead Teacher is also a qualified Adult Mental Health First Aider ( MHFA ).
