      Published 03/02/25

On Thursday 23rd January, staff and children from Newman School welcomed visitors to thank them for all the support in their mini-bus appeal.

Thanks to the generosity of parents, carers, local business, the local press and a bequest from an ex-student we managed to raise over £50,000.

Many young people wrote thank you letters and expressed their thanks on the day.

The event was a testament to the strong community spirit and the power of collective effort, illustrating how, when people come together with a shared goal, incredible things can happen.

The day was filled with heartfelt thanks, joyful laughter, and a sense of pride that resonated throughout the school. It was a perfect example of how unity and kindness can lead to meaningful change, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Students from Newman School recently attended the Magna Careers Fair where they were able to approach education, community groups and employers, asking them questions about their future options.

Students also took part in a 'Dragon's Den' session as part of the day, where they were able to quiz employers directly about their businesses and their own job roles. Students had prepared questions in advance and shown real confidence in interacting with the employers.

The event provided a valuable platform for students to explore potential career paths and gain insights into various industries. It was an inspiring experience that encouraged students to think critically about their futures and broaden their understanding of the opportunities available to them. Teachers and staff were proud to see students engage so enthusiastically, demonstrating both curiosity and initiative. Such events play a crucial role in preparing students for the next steps in their educational and professional journeys, fostering a proactive attitude towards career development.

Jess Godfrey from Gripple recently welcomed staff and students for a tour of Gripple facilities. As an international company, Gripple specialises in manufacturing products for the construction and rail sectors.
