    Our Curriculum

    Curriculum Intent - our 'why?'

Our curriculum ensures children learn in a safe environment that allows them to be happy, resilient communicators prepared for their next steps in an ever-changing world.

A curriculum to support learners in their individual life paths.

Working in partnership with parents is important to us and our curriculum has been developed in consultation with our parents & carers to ensure the values and interests of our families are included.

    Curriculum Implemetation - our 'how?'

We use the Cornerstones Curriculum approach for pupils from Nursery up to KS3 alongside their individual EHCP plans. This enables a child-centred, creative and thematic approach to learning, ensuring pupils access a well-sequenced, broad and balanced curriculum through programmes of study based on the National Curriculum. The curriculum for pupils in KS4 prepares them for the next steps in their education or work with an emphasis on accreditation, and for our KS5 pupils, it provides them with clear steps to progress in to further education, employment or other forms of training and/or support.

The curriculum framework is sequenced to build on previous experience, knowledge, understanding and skills through exciting termly projects which make learning meaningful and exciting and enables them to do more as they progress throughout each year group. We respond to individual pupils’ EHCP needs by adapting and personalising their curriculum according to their strengths and interests.

Curriculum Impact - our 'so what?'

We use the following impact statements to determine whether our curriculum design remains appropriate and relevant for our children and young people:

    1. Our children and young people are safe and secure within their environments. They show kindness and can sustain positive relationships with others.
    2. Our children and young people develop independence and are prepared for adult-life.
    3. Our children and young people make progress over time against their individual needs and EHCP targets.
